4th Annual Conference
16th-18th May 2019, The Netherlands

As it approaches its third birthday, YES-Europe is excited to announce that its 4th Annual Conference will take place in The Hague & Delft, The Netherlands, hosted by the Energy Club of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).

Its objective, as always, is to strengthen the community of energy students, young professionals, and industry stakeholders, allowing new connections between academia, start-ups and big companies to flourish.

With 120 expected attendees from 15 countries, it offers a balanced mixture of networking sessions, informative talks by leading experts, panel discussions, simulation games, tours around the city and much more.

Since this event is the only opportunity in 2019 for all our members to connect, engage and collaborate together, we highly recommend every member to attend this conference. It is going to be a really nice experience and the best way to thoroughly understand the value of our network!

Conference Program

How can we supply clean, reliable, and affordable energy in 2030?

In 2014, the European Council agreed upon the new 2030 Framework for Climate and Energy. This includes EU-wide energy targets like: 40% cut in GHG emissions, 27% renewable energy generation, energy efficiency improvements of 27%, and the completion of the internal energy market. Five years later European governments are not yet on track to achieve these goals. Can we achieve these goals? Are they realistic at all?

As young leaders in energy and sustainability, we are drivers and initiators of the unfolding energy transition. The YES-Europe Network will formulate answers to the questions that our current politicians and energy leaders struggle with. Therefore, in the Annual Conference of 2019 we explore technologies, perspectives, and policies of Europe’s energy future. Specific attention will be awarded to renewable energy potential, energy security, and accessibility of future energy services.

Day 1:

All Energy Day

On the first day of the conference, we will attend the All Energy Day in The Hague together. This large energy event includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, and more. It is specifically aimed at those interested in the energy sector.

Interested in the program? Check it out here.

The YES-program will be slightly different but has a great overlap.

After a “Borrel” (Dutch for drinks) we will dine together in the Hague

Day 2:

YES Europe meets

TU Delft

The second day consists of a tailor-made program focussing on our YES-Europe network and the impact of our members. Thought-provoking speeches, interactive sessions, and workshops are on the agenda. Furthermore, there is a tour through the D-Dream, the idea factory in TU Delft, where we will hear about many cutting edge European energy projects in the “Power Pitch” session. During this session, each country team will present an innovative and inspiring project from their country.

After a shared dinner, an optional and informal evening program will be provided. This conference day will be held in the Pulse building at TU Delft which is fully energy neutral!
