Razvan Razlovan, YES-Europe country representative of Moldova has shared some words on his experience:
This year our team decided to actively participate at local events related to the energy sector. We found out about this type of competition called hackathon which usually means addressing a certain topic or problem and finding solutions to it. First, we attended the “Urban Mobility Hackathon. Hack the Traffic in Chișinău”, between the 25th and 27th of October, where we tried to tackle the problem of traffic efficiency and energy savings respectively. We weren’t so successful, but instead, the format of the competition became very clear to us. Below is the picture of our team at the Urban Mobility Hackathon.
Next we attended the first of its kind “Chișinău Hackathon: Smart Sustainable City” where, as young specialists in thermal and electrical engineering, we had the opportunity to develop an interesting concept for a possible project. The three topics of the event were: e-mobility, energy efficiency and waste management. Our team presented a platform which role is to visualize and analyze energy consumption data in the form of useful and intuitive graphs so that the average person would get a better understanding of the amount of energy which is being used. This event was also held during three consecutive days on 15-17th of November. Below is the picture of our team doing some brainstorming during the Chișinău Hackathon.
We had a great time working and brainstorming on the chosen topics, but the most interesting part was getting to know common minded people who are also interested in the sustainable development of our community."
